Happy new year to you one and all! How did you see in the new year? As my husband was at work, I spent it dozing on the sofa after finally getting Small to sleep and the pup to settle down, but I just managed to catch the countdown and the fireworks!
At this time of year our thoughts always seem to turn to New Years resolutions. I haven’t made one in years as I seemed to find them difficult to stick to, so I tried having a word for the year instead. Unfortunately, while I love the idea and they seem to work very well for others, I haven’t always found them to be as useful as I had hoped. That is why this year I have decided on an intention for the year instead. It’s a bit of a hybrid; something that I would like to achieve and something to keep at the forefront of my mind throughout the year. It already feels that there is less chance of failure with this one because even if my gains are small, by the end of the year I will still have achieved something.
The intention that I have chosen for this year is one that I think most of us aspire too. To reduce the stress and live a more simple life. In our house it often feels as though we are always tearing around at full throttle, not always in the same direction, and trying to do everything at once, which inevitably brings a lot of stress and upset. So this year I am going to be asking myself things like how necessary is this, is there a way to simplify this and when was the last time we all had a day to just chill out?
Hopefully by the end of the year we will all be feeling calmer and happier, even if it’s only just a little bit. What about you? Do you make resolutions or have a word for the year?
